My Story

When I was 20 years old I joined together with my co-workers and we organized our workplace to address low wages and workplace harassment. This, together with growing up queer and in a Lakota household in rural Saskatchewan, has helped shape a life long commitment to movement building.

I spent 15 years involved in anti-violence work, sharpening my organizing skills and deepening my understanding of how oppression, colonization and class intersect to create economic inequality. I learned about forming strong and healthy organizations that can respond to changing dynamics. I experienced first-hand the impact of government decisions on people but also how the labour movement ensured workers and communities were equipped to fight for what they deserved through education, campaigns and coalition building.

Over the last 10 years I have worked within the labour movement fighting for progressive government policies, developing bold election campaigns, delivering union education and supporting strong executives.

Together we can win real change for workers and communities we care about. Let’s connect and get to work!

I was raised in the traditions of the Wood Mountain Lakota First Nation. My father is Jim Ogle and I am the great-grandaughter of Toniya Wakanwin (Lizzie Ogle). I am connected with my family and my home community.
